Alayna Gerhardt

Alayna Gerhardt, a graduate research assistant from Mendon, Illinois, is pursuing a Ph.D. in animal and food sciences at Oklahoma State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in both animal and plant sciences.  Her love for both disciplines led to her master’s thesis work in forage quality and production. Her Ph.D. focuses on implementing virtual fencing technology to safeguard riparian areas.

Alayna plans to become a livestock technology consultant. Her goal is to optimize livestock production, improve animal welfare, and streamline management practices through the strategic use of advanced technologies. With a mission to promote a more sustainable and technologically integrated future for livestock production, Alayna aims to contribute significantly to the agricultural industry by facilitating the adoption and adaptation of advanced technologies for improved livestock management practices.
