As population centers grow and drive competition for water resources, as changing rainfall patterns alter where, when, and how much water is available, and as modern demands interplay with many-decades-old water laws and regulations, water rights and policies are top of mind for many farmers and ranchers today. This Forum discussed some of the current factors in this complex and ongoing conversation.

Global conflicts, broken supply chains, climate action, and many other factors have created the perfect storm to push the agriculture sector to think about the future of the fertilizers we use to grow food, feed, fiber, and fuel. Can we make enough fertilizer here in the U.S. to supply our farms? Can we make it using less energy and other dwindling natural resources? This Forum examined where we stand today with fertilizer production and usage, and where we might go to create more sustainable and environmentally friendly fertilizer products in the future.

This Forum took place via Zoom on Tuesday, March 21, at 9 a.m. CT.

Antimicrobial Stewardship in Agriculture: How Far Have We Come and What’s Next? examined upcoming U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation changes affecting antibiotic use in livestock production. Private companies and producers are carefully considering when and how antibiotics are used in order to comply with these new restrictions to satisfy consumers’ demand for products raised with little or no antibiotics. The conversation also went beyond livestock and antibiotics to consider proper stewardship of antifungals in crop production. This Forum took place via Zoom on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 9 a.m. CT.
